Laura Botkins, Cindy Markum, and Sara Markum were recently named recipients of an HCA Foundation Scholarship. Each of the recipients has a parent employed by Alleghany Regional Hospital, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare Inc.
Botkins, a 2005 honor graduate of Alleghany High School is entering her freshman year at Duquesne University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, with plans to major in pharmacy. She is the daughter of Wayne and Lisa Botkins of Covington.
Cindy Markum is a junior at Concord College in Athens, West Virginia where she majoring in Elementary Education. She is involved with the Concord Dance Ensemble and the Honor Society. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Patricia Markum of White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Sara Markum is a senior at Concord College in Athens, West Virginia where she majoring in Secondary Education. She is also involved with the Concord Dance Ensemble and the Honor Society. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Patricia Markum of White Sulphur Springs, WV.
The HCA Foundation Scholarship Program is offered annually and provides educational assistance to the children of employees at HCA-affiliated facilities. Recipients are selected competitively based on academic records and personal achievements and must be enrolled at accredited colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools. This year, The HCA Foundation recognized more than 520 scholarship winners with awards totaling more than $500,000.
